THE DANGERS

  • If handled without precautions, materials containing asbestos release fibres that are invisible to the naked eye but dangerous to the health of workers and anybody present in the building. The invisible fibres are deposited in the lungs and remain there permanently.

  • If you inhale them, even in small quantities, you expose yourself to serious illnesses that often emerge much later—10 to 40 years.

  • In Switzerland, asbestos is responsible for around 200 deaths every year. 5,000 people are also subject to medical monitoring after professional exposure to asbestos. *
